Char Dham Yatra 2025: Over 1.89 Lakh Devotees Visit Shrines in Just Six Days, Reflecting Unwavering Devotion

The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has begun with tremendous enthusiasm among pilgrims. Since its commencement on April 30, 2025, a total of 1,89,212 devotees have already visited the four sacred shrines. A wave of devotion has swept across the region, with large numbers of pilgrims making their way to the Himalayan state to seek divine blessings.

Kedarnath Sees the Highest Footfall

According to official data, Kedarnath Dham has recorded the highest number of visitors so far, with 79,699 pilgrims having offered prayers at the temple. Yamunotri Dham has seen 48,194 visitors, followed by Gangotri with 37,739, and Badrinath Dham with 23,580 devotees. Pilgrims from across India are converging on Uttarakhand, while both the government and local administration are working round the clock to ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage experience.

Important Precautions For Pilgrims

Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj has urged all devotees to maintain patience and cooperate during the journey. Highlighting the risk of health issues due to oxygen deficiency in high-altitude regions, he advised pilgrims to consult their doctors before traveling and to carry essential medications and medical equipment. The minister also emphasized the importance of carrying identification and travel permits to avoid any inconvenience.

Instructions to Police and Local Administration

Reinforcing the Indian tradition of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ (The guest is equivalent to God), the minister called upon the police and local authorities to extend warm hospitality and support to all visitors. He also conveyed his greetings to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Badrinath Dham’s reopening for darshan (public viewing).

Record-Breaking Registrations

The rising enthusiasm for the yatra is evident in the registration numbers. So far, more than 24.38 lakh people have registered to participate in the pilgrimage, and this figure continues to grow daily. Additionally, the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN), which began online and offline bookings in February 2025, has already recorded over ₹11.84 crore in bookings. This surge has given a significant boost to the local tourism industry.
