After several coordinated missile and drone attacks from Pakistan were launched late Thursday night in furtherance of an escalation in cross-border hostilities following the brutal terror attack at Pahalgam on April 22, the national forces of security in India had successfully thwarted such an attack. An emergency meeting of the Prime Minister with the top officials had been summoned to review the national security situation and to charge for seamless coordination across all branches of government.

Pakistan Escalates, India Responds with Precision

Pakistan has launched drone and missile attacks on multiple military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. However, the attacks were thwarted in time by the Indian forces employing an assortment of kinetic and non-kinetic measures. There were no Indian casualties or loss of property.”

The attacks represent a serious escalation in regional tensions, drawing parallels to previous large-scale confrontations.

Operation Sindoor: India Strikes Back

Earlier in the day, India launched “Operation Sindoor”, targeting several Pakistani air defence installations, including those in and around Lahore. This pre-emptive operation was carried out after Indian intelligence and defence systems repelled overnight attacks across Northern and Western India.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that India’s action was a direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack and not a move towards escalation. “Our approach is not to escalate the situation—we only responded to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack,” Misri clarified. “The choice of de-escalation lies with Pakistan.”

High-Level Meetings and Emergency Measures

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials from the armed forces, intelligence agencies, and key ministries to evaluate operational readiness and ensure nationwide safety protocols.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said during the all-party meeting that Indian strikes killed more than 100 hardcore terrorists and their associates, probably the biggest counter-terror operations in recent years.

With the situation turning severe, all schools and colleges across Punjab have been ordered shut for the next 72 hours. Across the border, in Jammu and Kashmir, which is bearing the full brunt of Pakistani shelling, the government has swiftly mounted an emergency response to health needs.

Two mobile hospitals that can be deployed in just 12 minutes and provided facilities for treating 200 patients each have been dispatched to the conflict-affected sectors of Poonch and Uri. Critical care shall hence be provided by these mobile units in the wake of continued cross-border shelling in areas such as Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri.

Line of Control Heats Up

Ground sources with reports have stated that Pakistan forces are shelling on a greater scale across the LoC, with heavy artillery and mortars being used in the border villages that are populated. The Indian Army is giving a befitting reply while ensuring the protection of civilian lives in the processes of evacuation and shelter.

The government is also ramping up supply chains and essential services in sensitive zones. According to sources, the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) may be invoked to prevent hoarding and ensure a steady flow of food, medicine, and fuel to border areas.

Cultural Sanctions Against Pakistan

Taking a strong cultural and diplomatic stance, the Indian government has issued an advisory to OTT platforms, asking them to remove all Pakistani content including web series, movies, songs, and podcasts. Citing the IT Rules 2021, the advisory links Pakistani media to soft propaganda that allegedly fuels terrorism, including involvement in the Pahalgam massacre.

The move has been welcomed by several public figures and security analysts who argue that cutting off soft influence from hostile states is a necessary aspect of psychological and cultural warfare.

A Nation United in Crisis

As the situation continues to develop, India remains on high alert. Intelligence agencies have been put on a 24×7 monitoring schedule, and cybersecurity units are also actively watching for possible digital threats from across the border.

Prime Minister Modi, in his address, emphasized the importance of national unity during this sensitive time. “India stands firm and resilient,” the PMO said in a statement.

India has reaffirmed that its goal is peace and stability in the region but has made it clear that it will not hesitate to protect its citizens and sovereignty.

Conclusion

India responded calmly and strategically, yet the situation is still volatile. Under high vigilance, through vigorous diplomacy, and the nation standing together, India is ready to remain firm regarding her interests- be it on the land or on the world stage.
